Need advice, something that HASNT been asked here before.

Everyday we see pretty much the same questions. Well this one is different.



Everyone here knows that i deal with a mind numbing amount of TV's. What's ALWAYS held me back is those dang tubes. I have a proper recycler for them. But hauling them has always been the issue. If i get backed up for one week, that's almost 1000 tubes to move.

I have a good friend that runs a company called Dont Stand Up. Basically it's an errand service. But he just today expanded to other things.

I invited him to the shop and told him what i'm doing, asking if he could help. After a couple hours BS'ing, he said he'd give me a quote later.

For $200 per month, he'll run as many trailer loads of tubes i can throw at him. He said he could load the trailer up, but i think it'd be nice if i did. (He's 22 years old, but he's also a Afghanistan Veteran. He has 7 confirmed kills) In my mind (a scarey place) not letting him break his back to load the trailer is kind of like a thank you. I dont know, i'm crazy.

ANYWAY

Does that sound good to yall? I would like your views and opinions. Good and bad. All that. We're meeting again tomorrow to finalize everything. I've already agreed. It's not a contract thing, just a month by month situation.

I would jump all over that for sure. I would also throw another $100 per month at him for him to load the trailers. You free up even more of your time and he just got a 33% increase above his quoted amount for doing (in his mind) the same work. Make sure he is on a weekly schedule so the flow is smooth. I would even pay him on a every two week time frame so he isn't waiting a whole month to get cashed out.

If he is a man of his word and does what he said he is going to do.......that is a nice partnership. A steady job for him and a problem solver for you.

50 bucks a week? How many hours/ mileage is he going? I see a fuel surcharge coming... If I could suggest only 1 thing I would agree on a fuel surcharge in advance based in whatever you both agree is acceptable. I would offer 100% comp on anything over 4$ gallon . Or something along those lines, if you really want to keep him around.

loaded by hand or gaylords using a forklift?

I said that i am going to load the trailer for him. All he has to do is grab and drag. Once he gets to the recycling center unloading is pretty easy.

We spoke about the gas today. He has some foreign rig that gets amazing gas mileage. We're talking 31 mpg, pulling a trailer.

Monday, wednesday, friday. Those are the pickup days. He has 2 other guys to help him with this project as well. And another few to take care of the rest of his business. I told him, as he looked at the huge pile, that their are a LOT of tubes. He said "no problem". He's a standup guy. We talked on price, $200 seems to be fair. It's not too far of a drive, and he's not using near as much fuel as i would, and all he has to do is unload which isnt that hard.

It really aint alot of work. I mean, if yer a wuss then yes, it's alot. But he's a Military man, this aint chit for work.

If this is correct he's getting the extremely short end of the stick.

O hey ask him to drive to MN for say 400 a month..then I could quit my day job n just do 2000 tubes a month..more money for him
