Buying small time

I think you'll get a lot of cardboard and people will be expectin big money for it.....When you hand them a quarter they will laugh

You'd probably be better off setting a dumpster up in front of your residence that's labled "Plastic/Metal Recycling Dumpster" And have fun in it at night.

Instead of listing every single thing out, do the basics and somewhere on it put "Are you not sure if we accept/recycle XxxX? Call us at xxx-xxx-xxxx to find out!"

Keep it simple. Kind of like a menu at a restaurant..Who wants to spend 20 minutes reading it all over?

Might just be better to list what you don't take, it would be a shorter list.

You do realize the trash companies have signed contracts with the state, county, city, etc. So good luck with it but don't let me deter you try and see if you can do it. I just don't think its going to be very profitable picking up 7-10 bucks worth of garbage whoops I meant recyclables in a 40 gallon waste bin.

Well it wouldn't be a trash company but it would be recycling.

I know not much scrap could come from a 40 gallon container.
Key I think would be that if their container fills up and they can request a pickup with a simple text. Say they got a new oven and want to get their .04 lb for the old one ,they just text name and address,,,maybe have them give a brief description.

Payments to them would have to be by mailing check. And make a minimum for the payment of say $5 or so.

I can see problems with the card/paper. What are you going to do when someone unwraps some large flatpack furniture, stuffs the cardboard into the bin and then calls you to empty it? The fuel and time alone would kill you. I can see you running around town for not so profitable cardboard. I know you are trying to maximise your return by diversifying as much as possible, but I would advise you to stick with metal/electronics.

If you did that my only worry would be tweakers raiding the metal bins. Still, if the contents are worth something to the owner they might guard it a bit more carefully than their regular trash.
