    New scrapper here.

Came here to learn more about scrapping.

I have cashed in aluminum cans and scrap copper (pipe) in the distant past. A few years ago when copper prices started making the news I decided to start setting aside what copper, brass I came across (along with the aluminum cans). I am also in the metal detecting hobby & end up digging up lead, brass & copper while looking for better finds (coins, jewelry, civil war items, etc etc..). I dont go out actively looking for metal to scrap. Most of the stuff I get is from what my work throws away. Like for example..... my work recently replaced a lot of old electrical outlets which I snatched up for the brass bits inside.

I have a LOT of time to fill, and a job that does not involve much manual labor at all so I enjoy tearing down just about anything for the copper and brass bits inside. I will blast music in the shop while doing it & really get into it. I find it fun. Also.... in my job I run across a lot of aluminum cans & aluminum food-service-type trays that would normally be thrown away.

I have amassed quite a bit of copper, aluminum and brass over the years. Just recently I decided to start better organizing it and wanted to get rid of the stuff I dont find or amass a lot of. Which was contaminated (solder) copper, lead, and a large copper/aluminum radiator I was dreading having to tear apart.

I was surprised at how much I got for it all. I was expecting maybe seventy bucks, but got $150.

I dont really need the money, its just something to do to kill time & make a little cash on the side to stick in the bank.
