    California New Guy

I've been creeping around on the forums for a few days, so I thought I'd be a legitimate user and get an account.

I was raised by antique refinishers and upholsterers, so looking for stuff on the side of the road is in my blood. I was on eBay before you could upload pictures, and before the fees got ridiculous, and am a picker by nature. I've sold CD's, video games, and books via resale stores and have a predominantly vintage/antique feel to my yard sales (which is hard in CA, I always say that a California antique store is on par with a Midwestern thrift store).

I'm also a teacher, so I have decent blocks of vacation available to start scrapping part-time. Basically, I haven't had a raise in years, the costs of everything are going up, and I believe that there is money in sweat (I work when I'm off).

Unfortunately, I'm a long way from a scrap yard, so advice on that would be helpful.

I am scanning the boards for info and will start asking questions if I can't find the answer! Glad I found this site!

    Storage

I have a 4 x 20 spot next to my garage right now, but may start using part of my two-car garage as I need extra room!

I went to school in Colorado, is scrapping tough in the winter? I have four seasons to deal with here, too.

    Hey barnz,
Nice to see somebody else in socal! I'm not too far from you (depending on what part of the mountains you're in). I split my time between the coachella valley and the banning/beaumont area. I know what you mean about the garage sales out here, hard to make money on a bunch of new plastic crap.

Do you have storage area until you can get to a scrap yard. Are you anywhere close to the Modesto area?
