Hi all
Really glad I found this place, been looking for a decent scrappers forum for a while
I'm a 31 year old chap, hailing from the UK, moving to the Netherlands in a couple of weeks with my wife. I normally work in IT repair, as well as working in kitchens.
As I'm not to sure how well I'll get on fixing computers in a country that I don't speak the native tongue, I'm looking at becoming more self reliant, and wanted to expand my scrapping interests.
I'm currently clearing the assorted parts stored in my house, and looking to get rid of the various piles of computer equipment.
I've got about 4-5kg of motherboards, about 2kg of RAM, and maybe 4Kg of HD boards. Would I be better off selling these direct to someone like AWA refiners (paying £5/Kg for the mobo and £9/Kg for the RAM) or stripping the ICs and components off and selling them separate?
I've got a pile of gold plated parts, are those best flogged on
ebay, or are there buyers for them?
There's a chap who does mobile collections for scrap, and his prices seem OK (cashformetal. info) that I'm hoping to get to buy my old tower cases, cables and chokes.
If anyone has any guidance for scrapping in the Netherlands, or Europe generally it would be appreciated.
I presume that most of the buyers on here are from the US, and so shipping stuff to them would be tricky, or just not very cost effective.
Hope to hear back, great resource you have here.
