    Hello everyone

I think that it is a great thing that there are forums dedicated to scrap metal, electronics ect. I stumbled on this forum trying to gather general info on the subject. I never expected there to be such a wealth of knowledge like this forum.
Anyways, I guess I am a newbie at all of this. I have scrapped metal in the past, both for myself and for some of my former employers. However, until the past week or so I haven't really thought of scrapping as a means of earning any serious money. Since then I have been doing a lot of research on the subject, and starting to develop a game plan for what will hopefully be my secondary source of income. So far, I have a buddy of mine letting me use a fenced in (with razor wire) lot he has had empty for a while as a staging ground, my stepson to help me gather and process, (well mostly gathering at this point lol) and another good friend who is going to team up with me, who I have been partners with in the past and is a great, honest guy. Ive also been doing a ton of research as far as scrapping different things, identifying different types and grades of metals, ideas on getting scrap ect. i've also been looking into the whole e-scrap thing, as I know a lot about computers and electronics (not just which ones are good, but how to build the stuff, lol) so I am hoping to get into that field eventually in time.
Anycrap, right now im just starting out and looking to build a solid base to start from, and then if the opportunities come, expand from there. Heck, right this minute, I would be happy just to pay my internet bill, and build from there. Any advise will be greatly appreciated, and I hope I don't ask to many dumb questions (although I'll prob ask a few).

Welcome go the forum. I would learn as much as possible here, information is power. Keep in mind the action you take with that knowledge is what will earn you money. I find it best to balance the information gathering and the action. Get out, talk to people, and see where you can be of service.

    Good Luck

Welcome to the forum. A lot of people on here from NC. Try to brake stuff down as you go, you can get overwhelmed real fast as word gets out about what your doing. Take it slow at first till you get to know what you are doing. That will make things easier at the start.

Thanks everyone for the advise. I prob won't post anything for a while, I don't know that much so i'll be to busy reading! Anycrap, I have noticed a lot of guys in my area scrapping, in fact I went the other day to pick up 2 "curb alerts" that were just posted on craigslist, and I was already beat. The posts were about five minutes old and both were right around the corner from me, so I assume the scrappers around here are trained by ninjas.
