Getting started SMALL but having fun in Spotsylvania, VA. :)

    Hey everyone!!

So been scrapping, or trying to scarp for a week & 1/2 and I have been having fun, despite not getting anything major... but I KNOW it's coming, something good. So far I've been PRO-ACTIVE by putting out a few flyers in neighborhood & even though I haven't had any calls YET I hope to soon. I cleaned out my dad's LARGE garage with lots of JUNK in there & found a few things, old cell phones, old cd players, zip drives, computer monitor & a few other things I haven' taken apart yet. (Some things he doesn't know I have & will likely NEVER know because of 1. My RAPID DISASSEMBLING SPEED! 2. It's been in there so long he doesn't even KNOW he's still got it! So, I found a lot of zip drives (which I don't think has much in it). The monitor help the most copper & aluminum pieces (I'm still learning all my metals - Youtube has been a big help 4 me).

Anyway, still looking for that call from someone that they have some scrap 4 me. Even though my parents don't think that a 130 lb woman can handle a fridge, freezer or any other heavy objects, I'm waiting to prove them wrong.

Hey, I have to give PROPS to ALL YOU GREAT CONTRIBUTORS, your info has helped during my beginning. I just have to do my research.

I'll keep you up to date on my finds & if u are in Spotsylvania or Fredericksburg area let me know.

    Monet

Welcome to SMF! You might do well to be careful with what you scrap, when it's owner (even if it is your dad) is unaware of what you're taking ; )

    Monet,
I'm in Stafford. I do this part time. I haven't hit it big but I have got a good amount of "free money" Not sure what you are hauling in but for the big stuff it is too heavy you could do a partial breakdown on the spot. Once you learn the in's and out's of a washer or dryer or what ever it is you can knock them apart pretty fast. I would like to start getting into a little more ewaste so if you get any you want to sell whole let me know.

Welcome to the forum wannabascrapper!! as far as being a woman is concerned, I would not worry about it. My wife and I have been in the landscaping industry for almost 20 years. I welcome people to tell us that she cant do the physical side of the job, I enjoy it, because I get to laugh in their faces while she is working circles around the rest of us.

Work smart, Not hard. Bend your knees while lifting, instead of your back. Always think outside of the box and make sure to get a set of "hand trucks" or a "Dolly". I wish you the best in all that you do!

    Again welcome to SMF!!

Dont feel bad ive been scrapping for 2 years and all ive ever scrapped is vehicles, i know absolutely nothing about scrapping anything else.
