I'm a Network Engineer for a large Telecom Company in Frisco, TX. I only work the weekends so I have 4 days a week that I used to sit around the house and get depressed because I didn't feel as if I was doing enough work. After I got out of the Navy I started Plumbing for my father. It didn't pay the bills and I started falling behind, however, my father and I would scrap the copper that we pulled from the site. He's a lot more involved in this than I am. After moving to Texas my bills started piling up. I've noticed guys going around on bulk trash days just looking for items people leave on the side of the road, which are crazy sometimes! I figured, "if they can do it to make a little extra cash then it must be worth looking into". I already had a few items on hand, mostly copper from odd jobs that I've done for people, but ended up getting a little extra spending cash the other week. Not to mention a nice $500 dollar grill, a marble top fire pit, some nice antique steel tiki torches, and a callaway golf bag...sorry for the ranting. So on top of the scrapping, I've also accumulated items which would have taken me forever to get by buying outright. Now...the wife is not happy that I'm gone for hours on end...but I love the feeling of knowing what you'll find around the next corner!
