    Greetings from western Illinois

Greetings, everybody------------am I glad I stumbled across this place!

I've just been dinking around, taking apart computers for a while now, accumulating some stuff like IDE pins, etc.,
kind of looking for a direction to take to make a small business out of dealing with escrap.

I did learn how to reclaim the gold from ram and PCI card edges recently, but I'm having a difficult time getting
enough computers locally to get much going in that department, and the shipping cost for buying scrap motherboards
    kind of paralyzes my brain.

I have a small workspace, and I'm starting to think the quad/flatpack chips might be a good thing for me to
focus on (even though, from what I've read on SMF so far, they seem to be the Rodney Dangerfield of escrap, not in
high demand or getting a lot of respect).

However, I have absolutely zero experience buying escrap, so I'm really looking forward to getting some do's & don'ts
by those of you that have experience in that area.

The SMF looks like a fun place!

Welcome, and it is a fun place. Not just very informative but also very entertaining at times. I watch way less tv since I've discovered this forum. I think if you've figured out a safe way to reclaim gold fingers, you'll soon figure out how to reclaim it from CPU's and pins. Just the thought about it scares me, but I do dream about being able to do it myself as well. My hat goes off to you if you're able to do it successfully and safely to you and the environment. With that knowledge it's no doubt you need to learn the art of finding e scrap. Stick around, read the posts, you'll learn years of knowledge in hours. Most of the people on here are very forthcoming with information. Again, welcome!
Sweat is the cologne of success!
