I was asked to introduce myself and wanted to provide a little background in case anyone is interested.
I'm new to the forum, but not scrapping.
I'm located in Milwaukee and for over 3 years I've been meticulously dismantling electronic devices and certain appliances to gather data on the expected quantities of each metal for a given item. I do this as a hobby and not a job so I take my time and rip apart each transformer and motor (no matter how small) and strip every wire.
After weighing and recording the yields I save all of the components containing gold, silver, platinum, palladium, brass, copper, etc. and take the sheet steel and aluminum to the scrap yard.
I still have a ton to learn and look forward to reading the insight and perspective of others.
