    Scrap Hobbist

I was asked to introduce myself and wanted to provide a little background in case anyone is interested.

I'm new to the forum, but not scrapping.

I'm located in Milwaukee and for over 3 years I've been meticulously dismantling electronic devices and certain appliances to gather data on the expected quantities of each metal for a given item. I do this as a hobby and not a job so I take my time and rip apart each transformer and motor (no matter how small) and strip every wire.

After weighing and recording the yields I save all of the components containing gold, silver, platinum, palladium, brass, copper, etc. and take the sheet steel and aluminum to the scrap yard.

I still have a ton to learn and look forward to reading the insight and perspective of others.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Once I have a chance to review what has and has not been posted, I'll share some insight in areas that may be of interest. Based on what I've seen so far the forum is loaded with great information.

You may want to double check the words you use. We are not spelling/ grammar Nazis, however...

If you refer to yourself as a hobbist instead of hobbyist; it would mean you believe in absolute monarchy for a civil society. What I think you meant was hobbyist. So, instead of confusing others and making people decipher what it is you mean, correct yourself.

    Thanks and welcome.
