Hi! i got into scrapping kind of by accident. My gf showed me a picture of a 1991 f350 crew cab long box diesel for sale locally, something clicked and i had to have it. The ad said in bold letters-excellent truck to start your own
scrap metal business.
well i bouht the truck in feb '12 and spent 2 months 8 hrs a day cutting welding and basically
Making a new body for it because old one was destroyed. rewind to feb and march-when i got my taste for scrapping.
my buddies and i build and fix cars on the side so we acumulate lots of old useless parts. well we loaded up my truck, went to local yard and got 150 bucks for everything (like 600lbs of "shred"..). ever since then me and my trusty truck Jerry have been out on local bulk item waste collection days picking up that money! shes a great rig-dont shut her down for around 6 hrs when im out, and takes and beating!. Once i get a trailer..serious money.
I guess by default I deal with scrap car parts, catalytic converters ate great money! I have a guy that pays 80-150 a piece. wish i had the equipment and facilities to grab whole cars.
i am 22 and going into my 5th and final year of university. made just over a grand this summer doing scrap (5-6 days of work). when i go back to school ill try being the can man, 50c a pound for that stuff, and i got a whole garage i can stuff..
