Welcome to the forum. Alot of us started by looking for steel where ever we could find it. Start by learnning what the diffrant metals are, it's not too hard most people know what brass, copper and aluminum is. Ask questions, find a good scrap yard and ask them to help you sort your metals and you'll be well on your way. Good luck and happy scrappin.

Good luck and welcome. Magnet for sure, maybe round up some 5gal buckets for sorting out different scrap materials. Usually available for cheap or free, I don't believe I've ever paid for a 5 gal bucket

I've been snagging cat litter buckets with the lids (about 4 gal) free to haul away.
