    Hi,



    Ya noticed that for cat5 and cat6 cable is about $1 a pound, i've called around and the most i can get is .05lb this is dumb, is that a fair price?

    The base rate at my yard for insulated wire is 20 cents per pound, it can go alot higher depending on grade. You can get more selling it as shred than 5 cents a pound, your yard is screwing you.

    You can cut the connectors off and throw them in with other gold plated connectors and sell them at $4-$6 per pound.

    wire price

    Cat 5 and 6 recover at about 45% . I sold about a thousand lbs last week my yard paid me 1.45 a lb so if you have a lot check around at other yards in the area

    i get .70 lb for any wire not to bad in my eyes

    Just a thought- maybe the yards you are talking to have no clue and think you are saying CATV as in cable tv wire? Never seen a scrap yard turn down perfectly good #2 insulated...
