A long time ago I use to scavenge for junk cars and haul them to the local crusher. Started with a sling tow truck and moved up to a rollback. After about a year or so I found it much hard to find cars and make a decent living, so I eventually ended up moving to another state. Back then I think I got like $50/ton, but I always got the cars for free and there wasn't a huge amount of competition and no internet.
I currently have a bunch of spare time on my hands and looking for businesses to set up. Thought I might get back into the scrap biz and this site seemed like a great way to get back up to speed on how things have changed and to learn the best ways to go about doing things.
Would be great to talk to others that are in the Tampa area, as my experience so far is that anyone that is already in the biz doesn't want to tell you anything.
