Your better off leaving the jacket on the smaller stuff and stripping the bigger gauge stuff. Here is a homemade wire stripper that might help you get started.

there is actually some wire that pays better with the insulation on, depending a lot on your yard price.

I advocate selling whole scrap to a tare down scrapper for the same price as the yard would pay. if we all do this we have 3 winners rather then 2 and provid income for more people from the same products.

Have a couple of local yards on speed dial to do checks of prices, some will be higher than others. 12 ga and larger I will strip depending on the insulation and if it's smaller then it goes as insulated. Now little pieces of 12ga just go as #1 insul. I don't bother trying to strip it, just a waste of my time.
