new level of scrapping for me

Hows it going? I've been scrapping here and there for about 10 years but never had time to really get into it. well do to a 2000 mile move i now have nothing but time and would really like to get into it. So any tips or advice would be great. i've been running an ad on craigslist buying unwanted and or broken electronics for a week or so now. id like to think im set up for a good start since i have about 15 desktop computers and 12 laptops ( not assembled but i have all the parts ). How would i go about scrapping these? and are there any parts i should try to keep an eye out for? most of what i have is from 2000-2008 but i do have 2 much older computers with 7 socket intel pentium processors w/MMX Tech. i want to scrap more then electronics but i figured it was a good place to start. also, would i get more from my copper and aluminum if i melt them down into ingots? thanks for any help and i look forward to talking with you all

Welcome to the forum. Please spend the time to read the old threads on the electronics forum(other forums as well). As you read the threads you will notice at the bottom there will be several threads that have similar headings. Reading the old threads will pay off. Next take the time to read through the buyers/sellers forum. You will find current prices offered by buyers and entries by members who have sold to them and their experiences.

If you take your time you will make a lot more money and not get ripped off. Mike.

Your best bet is to click through the links in the " Similar threads on the Scrap Metal Forum" box at the bottom of that page. Do some exploring through this site, and you will get tons of good pointers. The fact that you already know the computer parts is a bonus for you.

Hi and Welcome to the forums...

If the Apple IIc is clean and in working condition, you should be able to get upwards of $100 as a collectible, not as scrap.
