Hello, from the land of taxes (New York). Just getting into the world of recycling/scrap and have found an unusnal item. A 60 gallon monel tank. Not sure of scrap pricing or where to take it. Any help on value and possible scrap buyers that would be interested would be helpful.

Monel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Monel is also not going to cut with a torch. It will do nothing but absorb the flame seeing how its used in high heat applications. Should fetch around 7 dollars a lb maybe more. I am not sure what the spot market is for Nickel right now. Been a long time since I have handled it. Take it to the yard and let them shoot it with there alloy gun.

Since it weights only 60 lbs you might not want to take it to a scrap yard locally. I would find a company that specializes nickel alloys ie Stainless steel, nickel, cupronickel, monel, hastelloy, etc. You can probably ship it for next to nothing compared to the price you would getting in return for it.
