New Scrapper

Hello, Im a new scrapper here at scrap metal forum, My name is Devin and im 13, Ive been scrapping for a year and a half and im looking to expand. I currently work my middle class neighborhood for scrap metals and electronics, And im open to new ideas and advice thats why i came to scrap metal forum, I scrap anything i find from lawn chairs to appliances, And so far ive made around $900 Which will go towards a truck when i turn 16. Im hoping to have a good truck to scrap with by the time im 16. Ive scrapped many things over the last year by just walking or riding my bike around and finding items. Ive scrapped printers,chairs,tables,tvs,microwaves,phones,bikes ,copper wire, And more. I come to scrap metal forum because ive heard it is a very good place to get tips, And i could use any tips i could get at this point , Thanks

Welcome from Searcy Arkansas, you remind me of my step-son, never saw a piece of scrap he didn't like. Good Luck and just remember, prices rise and fall, stick with it, when the prices fall what I call the fair weather scrappers will drop out of the business and you can stock up material until the prices go back up

Devin, I love your motivation.

Here is one idea. Put flyers in the doors of surrounding neighborhoods. Also place flyers in local businesses. While your there ask them for any electronics they don't need. Let everyone know your 13 it will be a plus to so many the negatives will outweigh the positives.

Schedule everything for Saturday pick up. Then place an ad on Craigslist for a man and a truck. $10.00-$12.00 and hour plus gas. Pick everything up on Saturday. Specializing in electronics will get you the most bang for your buck.

You can also ask your school if you do and electronics recycling fundraiser. Split the proceeds with the school.
