Can barely bring myself to call ourselves "scrappers". More or less your neighborhood junkmen, 50 year old father and 18 year old son with a little more knowledge in sorting and breaking down stuff for better prices. Started out just for fun, would always see nice stuff out at the curb in our neighborhood before garbage day. Would pick up lawn mowers, wheedwackers, and such and get them running for our own use or to sell on Craigslist. My dad got the idea that he could make some money by picking up pallets, since he's a truck driver and sees where ones are sitting out. Bought a little one ton flatbed, paid it off mainly with the pallets but we got the idea that all the junk men roaming our subdivision weren't just in it to find stuff to use or repair. Started picking up stuff we saw when riding bikes or just happening to be driving. Turned into more of a hobby than anything, as long as the load paid for the fuel, we were more than happy with the money left over.
Fast forward a little bit and we do the same thing for the most part, but I've been getting a little pickier about what we take in and what we take apart and sort. I like to think we're a little better off than some of these other guys we see but, we're still pretty novice. Decided to join to get some tips and pick up on the tricks of the trade. If nothing else, just seems like a cool place!
