Hello, my name is Donna Brenz. I'm new to this forum. Just call me pintac, that is the name I use most on the internet. It's in honor of my cat, Pintac, who passed away in 1995. I live in Delaware County, PA.
I've been "recycling metal for money" for over 40 years. BTW I'm 55 years old. I've been doing this since I was a kid. It started out in the mid 1960's with collecting newspapers for school fund raisers. Once I realized that I could make money for myself; my grandfather and I collected papers for my money whenever the school wasn't doing it. I remember taking the papers to the recycling center and asking them, "what else do you pay for?" They told me about glass, yes GLASS, and metal. I was 8 years old and HOOKED! In the late 60's into the early 70's Aluminum recycling got to be big so I ran around collecting Aluminum. For you youngsters, it was hard to find back then. By the time I got to college, I had discovered iron and the usual variety of non-ferrous metals. I was also selling at flea markets to make money. I didn't have a "real job" until I graduated from college. My mom told me that I couldn't do flea market and
scrap metal to make a living. I would have to find a "real Job." For 20 years I worked at various corporate jobs (everyone of them involved selling something to someone) while I supplemented my income with the flea marking and scrapping. In April 1998 I finally grew weary of working for others and went into the flea market and scrap metal business, FULL-TIME. As we enter 2013 this is what I do for a living. And yes, my MOM knows it.
It's just been in the past year that I've learned all kinds of tips and tricks for maximizing my money. I found this forum on YouTube, looking for ideas. I don't recall exactly who mentioned it, but thank you. I am looking forward to all you folks have to offer, thank you, Donna M. Brenz.
