Just an old HVAC guy. Came looking to learn some more about the Scrap Metal biz in general.
We go through quite a bit of scrap metal. My guys would almost fight over it, trying to get it before the other guy till I put a stop to that. My trucks are top of the line and outfitted for my biz, didn't want them trashing them to run theirs.
Put a new policy in, all the copper tubing gets cleaned and put in a bin, then they divvy the proceeds up. The equipment gets sent, in quantity to the local Vo-Tech HVAC teacher who has the kids play with, tear apart and ultimately scapped out. They get the proceeds to underwrite the school program's limited budget. But the money adds up quick. Will post elsewhere about the snag I ran into and hope to work out with some help from those in here.
