    Newbie from Washington State

Hey all. Just signed up, been doing a little researching on scrapping this last week, thinking about getting into scrapping for a side hobby, but am as green as green can be.

Little bit about myself. Grew up in Wa st., athletic background, played professional baseball (Toronto farm system) for 7 years until I blew my shoulder out in big league camp. Now I work full time at Fred Meyers, in the spring and summer I also coach Varsity baseball and then summer ball. Married, 17 mo old daughter with a baby due in June. I'm the only income at the moment, thus doing this as a side hobby would bring in a little extra cash through out the year.

I have little experience with scrapping besides the occasional truck load of cans but am interested in learning as much as I can. I currently have an old dishwasher, metal desk, computer tower and a 83 vw rabbit I'm researching on how to break down. Plus I live less than 2 blocks from Pacific Recycling so I won't loose any money in transportation.

Anyways, wanted to keep this quick and just a short hello.

Freonjoe, thats part of the reason why I joined this one I had browsed through a couple others, noticed that there was a local guy here and this one seemed more laid back. Found one but it seemed to be geared more towards businesses.

Matt, I tried to part the rabbit out but only got interest from people looking for a diesel. If it was a diesel, I would have kept it. I bought it from my brother in law for a couple hundred for a gas sipper DD. Before I even got a chance to transfer the title over, the transmission went south. Its a heap of oxidized metal with a much needing to be replaced motor and shoddy tranny. If I do scrap it, I'll pull the good glass from it and some other small odds and ends but thats about it.

Oh, I also have an old 1950 GE Range that I may scrap. Got it from my grandfathers house, threw it on CL but no takers. Once I'm ready, I'll start a single thread with anything and everything I will be scrapping for input on my doing it right or wrong.

Telling it like it is, but I'm learning. Grew up in a single mom household with a younger sister. Was the only boy in my family until I was 10, theres 2 of us, plus 2 of age 4 or younger (nephews). I played sports growing up, was never taught how to fix or work on things. I'm I completely mechanically declined, no. I'm I the guy you want fixing your stuff, nope! But like I said, I'm learning. Getting more into fixing or repairing my own vehicles, currently working on pulling a transaxle on my wifes car that will be rebuilt or replaced.

    Baby steps.
