Hello, this scrapping thing is new for me!

Found this forum and LOVE IT! Never have signed up for a forum before but I have just recently started scrapping with my sister. We are trying to make enough money to put a tin roof on my belated stepfather's old welding shop. Lot of memories here and mom would like to keep it up the best we can. We've already gathered 2 loads and working on the 3rd load. This forum is great. Got lots of ideas now. Only thing is...around here there are quite a few folks that do scrapping just to get by and with some of the tips I've read on here I think we can do pretty good.
HERE'S THE START OF A NEW HOBBY!!!

Hey LadyS! Welcome to SMF You should be able to find some scrap tin laying around somewhere. I'd slap an ad on FreeCycle for it, with a subnote for old computers too ; )

PS forget the subnote, put it right in the title, Wanted: Barn Tin for repairs and Old Computers for recycling

Knowledge is your biggest asset. I have quite a bit of scrappers around here too. They focus on getting big loads, me on the other hand, I focus on getting a decent load and a heavy concentration on non ferrous metals. Right now I am sitting on many pounds of copper, aluminium, stainless steel, boards, wires, motors, and short steel.
