    Hi all
    Relativly new scrapper here

After being laid off last month Ive stared picking up scrap when and where i can and came across this site which has been v informative and helpful

I have a few window ac units which I have dismantled and am wondering if removing the alum from the cooling coils is worth the time( which I have tons of)....I have searched the site and have not been able to find any kind of clear answer

Hello from Denver. I just cut the steel ends off and turn in the rest.

There is a vid on here somewhere but i cant find it about how to strip the ali off of the copper. Basically you cut the ali with a box cutter along the copper tube, peal the ali off of the copper. Or you can take the ACR in whole after you remove any magnetic material and get around $1.50 a pound depending on your area for clean ACR. Didnt mean to come off as being an @$$ in your other post.

Only you can decide if it is worth it to you. Get a rad, weigh the original, take the copper out, re-weigh the copper and the aluminum and calculate the prices. Also, time yourself and see how much you are making an hour by stripping them. You decide if it is worth it to you. Good luck!

    Also, Welcome from Austin, TX.
