    New from Mo.

    Hello there guys,
We've scrapped cars in KC for years and are now thinking of trying to figure out this new techno scrap too.
I found your site while searching about some silver plated wire I found. Scrap yard wants to tell me it's tin.
If someone knows anything about this wire and how/where to get max value out of it I'd love to hear about it.
Thanks for the cool site and the opportunity to learn.
    Craig

Craig, I haven't run across any techno scrap but plenty of escrap. Depending on where the wire came from I would imagine that it's just "tinned" copper.
Very common, if you look in my monitor breakdown one pic (#5) shows a "tinned" copper wire surrounding the CRT tube. My yard takes it as #2.

escrap is what I mean. I'm far from savvy on it. I always thought goldfinger was a villain.
This roll of wire has a tag on it with options for different conductor types. Tin plated, silver plated and nickel plated. The silver plated box is checked off.
I found some silver plated copper wire on eBay and they're selling small hanks of it for pretty good money.
I'm just an old car scrapper but I like to try and maximize value.

Here's a pic of the tag on this roll of wire.
It's got to be better than just #2 Cu doesn't it?

What section of the site would be best to pose this ?

Well, there's your proof right there, Belden is an old company making hookup wire and coaxes for communications. I'd list it on Evilbay and include a pic of that ticket, the people wanting to buy will know some of the spec's listed. That's if you have enough of it to make it worthwhile to list.
