    Scrapping Noob

Hey all, I'm new here from Kansas City, MO. Just started by doing a lot of reading and tearing down appliances and junk around the house. It started off as a way to clean the place up, and it's turning into a hobby. As an old computer geek, I've been thinking about hanging my shingle out as a computer recycler (The local yard says they'll buy scrap boards for .10 to .25 per pound)

I look forward to educating myself more, thanks guys!

Well, there you are,,, You know computers, the yard is super cheap on what their paying for boards, we have buyers paying 2.00 -6.00 a lb for them.
Most of us just tear them all the way down to maximize our profits or Ebay a few parts for even more profit per.

Welcome from a sandbar off the coast of NC. Kick back an stay awhile, this site and the great folks who contribute to it will educate you greatly on a good many things with this business. So..grab your beverage of choice, pop on some good tunes ( there is even a thread for scrapping music!) and get your edumacation on!

Good luck and perhaps as a old computer geek we'll learn a few things in the process from you as much as you learn from us.

Welcome from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Looks like you might have a good source of boards there. I to have a local yard that buys boards for cheap prices and collects whole units for free drop off, but unless your R2 certified, they won't sell to you. Good luck to you. Happy scrapping.
