    Just wanted to say thanks!

I've been scrapping for a little while now, but it's been mostly whatever I just happened to run across for extra money because there's a yard about 5 minutes from my job. I'm 29 and I've been stressing over my financial security a lot lately so in order to speed up my money saving process what I've been trying to do is not touch my paychecks at all. I let 6% go to 401k, pay for my benefits and uncle sam and the rest I just want to sit in the bank.

My goal is to pay bills from scrapping and at first, as you can imagine, it wasn't easy. I work nights so by the time I get off work a lot of the neighborhoods have been passed through. Recently though, with all the information you guys throw out there, especially all the eScrap knowledge, the last 2 months I've been able to cover rent just off scrap. There's so much stuff that I just used to throw to the yard that now I break down, test what I can, put stuff on eBay and even started buying towers in my area. There's also stuff that it seems people just drive by not knowing that it's actually worth a few bucks that I wouldn't have known had it not been for this site. I've always had that living check to check type of feeling and it's a huge relief to be able to watch my bank account slowly pile up.

Just wanted to give a huge thanks to guys like Mechanic688, SirScrapAlot, jghilino (I was about to scrap about 5-6 2GB or less HDs until I saw your post in the eBay section) and everyone else who posts information to help out random people like myself. It's all appreciated.

Great start. I wish I had done what you are doing when I was 29. Keep it up and get out of rental as soon as you can. Find a small place with a small mortgage.

Ha, I'm not bringing in that much. No cash throwing here.

It's in the works. I'm hoping by the end of this year/middle of next at the very latest to have my own place. Trying to get enough saved to put a decent down payment and am trying not to borrow from my 401k at the moment. Some of my friends mortgage payments are close to what I pay in rent and there's is at least going to something that's theirs.

I bought my house when I was 26 and my mortgage is paid in scrap now and I am able to invest and save with my normal jobs it's a great fall back especially if your work is seasonal like mine. hard work and long hours but it worked for me and i'm sure you can make it work for you. Best of luck to you!
