New Member Checking In From Nashville Tennessee!

    Hello all,

My name is Kevin, I'm 47 years of age and I currently live in Nashville, TN. I have been collecting ewaste for a little over a year now and I have accumulated much escrap.

I have refined and melted gold and silver. Right now, as my username suggests, I refine keyboard mylars. I've been refining them for a few months now and I also have a few clients that have sent me their mylars to be refined for the silver they contain.

I look forward to meeting all of you and hope to have a nice stay here.

    Kevin

On average, there is approximately 12 -15 grams of silver per lb of mylars. so, I think somewhere around 0.05 grams per mylar.

I'll start a thread on mylars in another section, once I figure out which section will be appropriate.

1gram silver is at 74 cents so thats 3.7 cents per sheet if theres 0.05 grams per sheet. Ive been reselling them at 30 cents a sheet so im gonna keep doing it that way. =)

It's over 2 hour drive one way, which is approximately 197 miles. So, looking at 5 hours driving, 394+ miles for 100 keyboards may yield around 2 ozT of silver, considering it takes approximately 78 sheets of mylars to equal 1 lb. Most keyboards will have 2 sheets.

You would be better off taking them out, then selling them or making a deal. If I were closer I'd surely come and get them, but for what I'll get out of them wouldn't cover the gas expense alone.

That's not bad at all. I wish I knew somewhere to sell them to at that price. Do you sell them often at that price? All I do is refine them.

Hey Kevin, Welcome to SMF! What part of Nashville are you in? I lived in Nashville for near 20 years, 5 years in East Nashville, 5 years in North Nashville, and almost 10 in South Nashville/Donelson area. Really enjoyed it there. I've been in Oklahoma now a little over 6 years
