    Hello everyone!

Hello everyone. My name is Sirkarl101 not really but that is what I have chosen to use. You are very smart individuals and probably can figure out my real first name. I searched the net and could not finf alot of info on a metal I bought at auction. It is a 25lb peice of alloy that clearlt specifies containing stelitte6. I dug through the pages of info but got know real dollar value on this metal. Have any of you dealt with it before?
I know it is tough stuff and has a tolerance of 1100 degrees farenheit with an unusually high resistance to corrosion. This perticular peice is to a swing check valve and is the disk. In prestine condition. I contacted the manufacturer and of course I received no response. HELP! What is this stuff and what kind of money are we talking? Some old posts suggest a great deal of value. No scrap yard I checked had any knowledge of it. Just the nobles and the standard metals. I am new to this area. so please any info you can give me would be helpful. I hope this inquiry is not considered advertising it is an honest question.
    Thanks.

Karl, I would take it to the nearest yard (scrapyard) that has a XRF gun and that should tell you what all is in it if it has different alloys together.

Hello sir scrapsalot. Thanks. As in life I am in no hurry, Every chair is comfortable. I was curious as to this perticular metal. I read it is sold in powder form and on and on and on but no bring it to the scrap yard and get x amount per pound. There is no doubt it is an alloy. I believe I will have it analalized. I do not know what to expect as this is my first time outside of the aluminum can days of my youth. But years of dealing with people has taught me that honesty is sometimes not others best policy. Like estimates a few analysis may be in order in this case. Thanks again enjoy your evening.

Sounds like sound advice to me. Thank you. Is this a common tool found in most scrap yards or should I call ahead and ask. I do not wish to start off on the wrong foot and insulting a scrap buyer or demonstarting my ignorance of the industry.
    Thanks again

Most of the bigger yards have them, even our local one has a gun. We have a total population in our county of 77, 336 so they aren't a huge yard.

Thanks mechanic688. I know reputations are individualized, however in this perticular industry. Do you find most of the merchants to be credible or are they leaning more to the not so, I do not know how to say it dishonest or cheats I guess is straight to the point?

I believe it to be an alloy of either nickel or cobalt I am guessing as it is magnetic. Having taken the time and expense to have it treated with stellite6. This is my hypothesis. Anyone concur or is a rebuttle in order?
