    Howdy

    Howdy all,

A couple of months ago I went to a scrap yard here in Austin for buy some pieces of brass for house decor. (I am steam punking my house out.) I was amazed at how much a couple of pounds of brass would run me! I found this forum and have been learning a ton(pun). I have been getting old electronics and taking them apart mostly.

I am learning so much (as I have hardly picked up a tool in my life) and getting strong (50 lbs aint nothing now!)

I want to use the money I make to reinvest it in my new found hobby. I haven't been to the yard yet, just saving up all the metal in my garage.

Hang onto the double green boards until you do some reading up on how to tell them apart. Cause some boards run from .70 up to 5-7.00 a lb. Most brown/tan/white boards are called low grade. We even have good buyers that'll buy the better stuff.

Welcome, and take some time to do some reading and you'll have a college education in scrapping.

    Welcome from south-east BC, Canada!

By the way, how much were they asking for brass? I tried buying some steel from a yard....they were paying 150$/ton and wanting 280$/ton to buy it!! Whats that? Naaah! The yards won't try to rip you off!
