Hi Yall, from a young Oregon scrapper.

    Hi all,

I'm a college student in Central Oregon. I grew up in a machine shop and have always been involved with selling scrap metal left over from machining. I have recently started collecting stuff on my own time when I'm not in school studying engineering or at work. I'm getting my first load of escrap ready to take to the scrap yard at some point in the next few weeks along with other scrap i have been saving. Thanks to all you guys for all the information on the forum I have already used. I learn more every time I read a post!

    Cmg

If you have room don't get in a hurry to sell your escrap till you check out our buyers and compare prices with your yards. Main thing is to not give away all your profits.
#1 You won't get an education in scrapping like you will find here.
#2 Your college will be a gold mine of escrap when you know what all to look for or maybe even advertise on the bulletin board.
#3 Take the time and read, go back thru the old stuff, remember the prices change but the percentages of profit remain the same.

Welcome from the sticks of southeast BC, just a couple hours north of Spokane. Studying to be an engineer, huh? I'm an old one but have never regretted it one minute. Helps the scrapping effort a lot. What specialty are you aiming for....oh, wait...machine shop...let me guess: M.E.? Same for me.

Haha I actually started out M.E. but I will have my degree in Energy Systems Engineering by the end of the year. It is a combination of mechanical and industrial engineering with a focus on energy. Its always fun to see the components we learn about in class in the items I'm scrapping!
