    Cool Florida Guy Here NEW

Hello all I was just getting into the e scrap and was looking for a buyer in florida or close to FL that purchases broken down desktop compuer components I want to just send them the boards, magnets, powers supply etc. It seems like there are lots of buyers and I have read many of the forums but as of yet cant seem to find someone that will take it all. Any ideas for an honest buyer would help me. Thanks

I believe there are a couple folks down your way who buy. Sure they'll pop in when they see the thread, an lest point you in the right direction if they don't buy.

Far as buyers you can trust..over in the buyer section, you can peruse their threads an see the reviews from those of us who've dealt with them. Scammers an non honest folks, tend to not stick around our lovely forums for very long. We're pretty good at detecting BS.

Oh an welcome to the forums from a sandbar off the coast of NC.

Spoke with Mike (olddude) in the Fl panhandle today he is a great guy. Gave me some info and said he would purchase my stuff as it is a small amount but would also set me up with his guy if I had bulk. Still trying to figure out what parts of the hard drive are worth money, the case is Alum, the magnets are on some kind of holder but besides that they have few parts. Also the Cd/dvd rom drives have the laser does it have any value? This Forum is awesome by the way!

Looking forward to it. Went by my local thrift store today they tried selling me a 10+ year old stack for $30 haha, (olddude) gave me heads u that you will get roughly $8 out of a stack after shipping etc, does this include the wiring and the heat sink? Does the power supply need to have all the wiring or are they just wanting the circuit board?

Your already off to a good start if Olddude is willing to help ya out. Listen to that man, as he has quite a bit of knowledge.

I keep all my eye lasers and magnets. Those magnets are great an tons of uses. I find myself sometimes trading magnets for other stuff from folks on my sandbar.

The cases..are alum, some can be stainless I believe. Platters sell from what I hear to artsy crafty folks. Same with magnets but I save mine for trading, an my own personal use around the house. Far as Cd/dvd...if their read/write there are buyers on here for them, but the dvd has to be read/write type If I recall. I pull the boards from those types an the motors, an other metal parts, an chuck the rest into the ol'shred pile.

LOL..might help if i also add..Pull the hard drive board if you didn't already know, thats most your money from it right there.

Hope it helps, an while I gave you a quick breakdown, make sure you go back an search for old thread involving hard drives, an you'll have it straight from the scrapper's mouth.

Good luck an Olddude is good people, quite a few good folks down that way.

Urbanerecycling Is the best buyer I have found in florida. I have scrapping e-waste for over 6 years and he is the best by far. It would be worth the trip to Tampa and check him out.

Welcome from another Floridian. I am just across the state from you in Port St Lucie. I was going to send you a PM, but can't yet I guess. Fill you in on the Florida scrapping info.

Welcome aboard. Take plenty of time and read up in the electronics recycling section. There is days worth of stuff there to read.
