Hey y'all, I'm so happy to have found this forum, I have already learned TONS just from ghosting for a few days! My boyfriend and I have been dipping our toes in the warm waters of scrap ever since we saw a guy behind us in line at the recycling center with a big dryer drum and some other pieces of metal. We didn't say anything to each other right away but it had planted a seed in both of our minds. It was the realization that this guy had
garbage and they were gonna give him
money for it. We couldn't shake that thought, finally one day my boyfriend turned to me and said "how much do you think that guy got for that dryer drum?" and that's how it all started. Our "business" is (very unofficially) called "You Think it Scrap." Recently we got our first "haul" an old washer and dryer. For the learning experience we gutted them completely, I mean took apart every piece. It was many things: exciting, interesting, fight-inducing, frustrating, satisfying, and we learned a
lot. One thing it was not however, was financially lucrative. Oh well, tonight is trash night and I can't wait to see what treasures we'll find!
