Hi all,
I work in IT and managed to squirrel away a good amount of
e-scrap over the years. Our recent office move gave me some motivation to start scrapping somethings. I managed to sell so far 300#'s of batteries from some UPSs (Central Jersey Recycling), 54#'s light iron(my boss took 700#'s to Philly and without my knowledge, he dumpster-ed another couple of hundred pounds [grr]), 5#'s stainless steel and 14#'s of cast aluminum (J&J Recycling in SI) from stripped hard-drives.
I'm looking for buyers for the rest, but the members on here who offer the best seem to be far away and I think shipping is going to kill it. I only have a sedan that gets about 20MPG and I'm on an island, so there's the toll factor; but, there's got to be a happy medium of either ship some and drop-off the rest.
100#'s power supplies (about 20 atx/8 server hotswap)
2#'s hard drive boards (scsi/sata/ide)
20 floppy drives (stopped taking apart after trying a few)
4#'s dvd/cdrom/cdrw/dvdrw boards
50#'s cat5/6/5e/3 w/ ends cutoff
cut cat5/6/3 plugs
cut pc power cable ends
cut MOLEX plugs
55#'s insulated wire (w/o ends from power cables and psu)
30#'s heatsinks
4#'s small motors
3#'s fans
2#'s bare copper
2#'s hdd spindle motors
4#'s rare earth magnets and brackets from hdd
25#'s server motherboards
20#'s green motherboards
23#'s non-green motherboards
11#'s backplanes (Dell, Compaq and Intel servers PII-PIII era)
20#'s telecom modem bank cards
16 whole keyboards
20#'s finger cards (eisa/isa/pci/agp/pci-e/pci-x...NICs, Sound, Modems, Video, SCSI, HDD Controllers--might trim them)
1/4# eproms
10#'s green boards w/ transformers/capacitors from modem bank
~6 working LCD 15-17" + 1 DEAD (power?) LCD
I think my >10# scale is off, so the larger stuff might be +/- a few pounds.
After this round, I have another 30+ servers (IBM/DELL/GATEWAY/SUPERMICRO), 5 HP/D-Link/BayNetworks(12-24port switches), 10 small switches (>8ports), 2-3 Cisco routers, and a few 2200W APC UPS's w/o batteries. Anything P4+ will go to
eBay and the rest will be broken down.
eWasted, PartTimeScrapper, PhillyScrapBuyer, BumpRacerX seem to offer really nice pricing and I'll reach out to BrassCatcher and SurfsUpNY69 (looks like he hasn't been on in a while) in LI, but any other thoughts for the metro NYC (LI/NJ) area?
Thanks for reading and the great posts.
-Jeremy
