Aloha from the island of Oahu, fellow scrappers! My name is Chad and I have just begun serious scrapping (it has always been a hobby of mine for extra cash). I've recently started up an electronic scrapping business (but I scrap pretty much all metals) that I'll be running part time while I finish school. I came across this site while I was doing my business research (and before deciding a scrapping business was right for me). My goal is not to scrap full time but if the opportunity presents itself...why not?
Scrapping is alive and healthy here on Honolulu. I remember I put out a bed frame in the front yard and, without any ads anywhere, it was gone in 2 days. There are a lot of scrappers here working for copper, aluminium, cat converters, scrap cars, everything. Looking at ads on Craigslist, it appears there's a lot of action going on the other islands as well (I wish I could get in on it). Anyways, I decided to join because it seemed like a pretty awesome community (and this site gave me a lot of much needed and appreciated info).
I hope to put into this community just as much as I got out of it and I look forward to reading more scrapping stories (and maybe posting some of my own?).
Stay scrappy,
Chad
