    Delaware.

I'm not a scapper but I do work for a small auto salvage yard that does crushing. Found this forum on a Google search and thought I could learn some cool stuff here. I screwed up on my user name and hope a Mod can fix it. I'm known on most forums as Dakotademon7. That's what I wanted to use here but screwed up somehow. Lol.

I do the prep and crush at my work. It bugs me that we are not set up to get the most out of the vehicles . The only things we keep are Aluminum rims,Cats, batteries and radiators. I know there's a lot of money being wasted. Most of the time I'm the only guy doing the prep and crush on top of being the only parts checker/puller. Wish I had more time to at least pull cores. That's $15 a car being wasted alone.

Just want to share some great deals I got from the Auto salvage yard I work at.

These are the two bikes I got for free. Just have to pay the fee for the title work.

    1999 Suzuki Katana 750 and a 1999 Suzki Bandit 1200S.

The Katana had a high speed lay down and the Bandit had a rod threw the block. I swapped the katana 750 engine I to the Bandit.

The Bandit before the engine swap.

My 1998 Subaru Legacy outback 30th annisvercery edition. Needed a head gasket job.

The aftermarket rims on it I got for free.

If anyone ever gets a Suzuki Bandit to scrap, I could use a couple parts. Could also use a cargo cover for the outback.

I would like to get a truck this Spring and start some scrapping on the side. I know there is other scrappers around and could use some advice on not stepping on there toes. I want to be respectful to the others doing it but don't want to get rolled over ether.

    Dakota,

I'd say you have a good job at the yard...if they let you take stuff you want for free or for a reasonable price. You should be able to sell the left over bike parts on ebay for decent coin. I'm sure you see lots of interesting stuff float by on a regular basis.

I saw that you were wondering about changing your logon name since you hit a wrong key when putting it in. I don't know for sure, but try sending the admin a request via a support ticket. Click on support on the top of the page and go from there. I have no idea if they can help but you can try.

Welcome to the forum from Western Canada and keep the interesting photos coming!!

    Jon.

Thanks for the advice. Most scrap gets thrown into the crush cars for stuffing as we call it. I'm thinking of asking the boss if I can have the fuel pump motors from the scrap gas tanks. There some copper wire winding in there that make add up to something. I'll have to see what I can come up with. I don't want to steal anything from my work place. I'm not type of person and on top of that, my boss is a very nice guy. I would ask before taking anything.

I've been here just a short time but must say this is a really good forum. I enjoy being here. I've been on lots of forums and have to see a lot of BS. Flaming, bashing, ect. I don't see that on here . I know it may happen sometimes on here but it's not like a lot of forums that have it deally. I just want to say thanks to the members for the welcome and showing a new guy kindness and respect. Not easy to find on an active forum.

It's all good. Some of the other guys at my job take a part now and then. Nothing that will really be missed or cared about but I like to try and keep my karma bright white. Lol.

We get our occasional tiffs going on here now an then, no site is perfect, but these here forums close to it. Usually when there is drama it's someone who is setting out to cause it. We're pretty drama free. The mods use the ban hammer as they have to, an give us free reign to act the adult we are. If we don't, we know they got good aim.

Welcome to the forums again, an glad your enjoying your stay so far. On the name change, not sure how it can be done, I believe KZ had his changed at some point. Never hurts to ask!
