Introduction from Iowa

I was really glad to find this forum as I have been scrapping our old buildings out for years and never really paying much attention to the details. I went from farming in the 80s to rehabbing old buildings in Omaha NE. We demo them to the outside walls and start over building apartments for the next 100 years. We are going to be starting on the old electric power plant along the Missouri river. This building has all the main generators already taken out but all the old boilers and pipes are left. I am hoping to learn the best approach to salvage the steel, some tanks with 6 inch walls, starting in March.

Welcome to the Dakota's. Old Belleview Chieftain here. Best piece of advice I got when scrapping major tanks was: How do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time. I have some experience in this area and would be happy to share my lessons from the school of hard knocks. Good luck and it sounds like a fun project. Look forward to your updates.
