My name is Bo and my username dtwins is named after my identical twin boys, Jimmie and Chuckie (they are 10). We started scrapping as a team in August 2013. I had brought home 70 Sun servers from my business to sort them by specs. Bottom-line, the equipment that I purchased was not what was I expecting, the resale value on
eBay was a slow dime and it would taken at least 3 months to move it. I looked into scrap pricing and saw I could almost X 3 my money in just a few days. My boys came out to the garage and were immediately drawn to what I was doing. They immediately volunteered to help and I knew what was on their mind "DESTRUCTION". LOL
My son Jimmie has Type 1 Diabetes and on the second day of destruction, my other son Chuckie came up with a great idea. We can recycle electronics to raise money for the "Walk for the Cure". A day later Chuckie came up with our name, we are know "Team Recycle-Betes". We put in about 10-15 hours a week and we are 5 months into our Father and Son Mission. Team Recycle-Betes has raised just under $1000.00 for the Walk for a Cure. 50% goes back into my business and 50% for the Cure. I know I am rambling on, but I am very proud father, they are still at it after 5 months with 2 more months to go. The "Walk for the Cure" is March 8th. Now I find myself rummaging through my warehouse all the time looking looking for equipment with little resale value, but decent scrap value. This weekends project is 7 Cisco 4000's which I just horse traded for.
I've been coming into your forum for several months now, because the answers are always there. I want to thank all of you for my Scrap Education. We are up to almost 3 pounds of Tantalum Caps. I would of never known about Tantalum had I not stumbled across a thread which lead to another thread and to another. Your knowledge is priceless.
Thanks,
Team Recycle-Betes (Keeping it Green for the Cure)
