Thumbs up New from Pittsburgh, scrapping is part of my life.

    I love to scrap,

It's my hobby, I know I could make more when I think about what could be doing on on the side to make extra money but I just love collecting and collecting over time, then all of a sudden cashing in on a big payday.

My father and I share a scrapping truck, its a beat up 1998 ford ranger that has hauled 100X its own value.

    I collect everything,
Being in the science/electronics field I usually find access to all types of metals, my mainstays are aluminum and steel. But I also end up with stainless steel, copper and brass to the occasional, titanium and platinum.

I'm looking to learn more about e scrapping as I don't have the slightest clue. And I'd love to pick up some tips and tricks to maximize my scraps potential and track prices so I know when to "cash in"

Welcome from the Dakota's. A lot of knowledgeable people on the forum with more information on nonferrous metals than I have. While you are waiting for them to chime in, look over the library of previous threads. Lot's of information has been shared in older threads. Good Luck to you.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
Since posting I have been down to the Clark building turning in platinum I got from old machines, and to D&D under the 62nd street bridge to scrap some #400 pounds of metal shelves and #60 of solid brass.

I have some more aluminum, brass and copper but don't need to rid myself of them just yet. I'll have to check from you guys to hear when the prices are up for those.

The truck I scrap with is just like this one, only with more rust.
It just keeps running and running. Someday its going to drive itself on a oneway trip onto the scale.
