Hello all,
I am new to the scrap game. I work for a large manufacturer that produces industrial equipment. After 5 years of walking past the scrap copper bin and saying hmmm.... that's money right there! I decided to finally ask if I could buy the copper (1/3 cable, 1/3 small gauge wire, 1/3 good stuff 14AWG+). I pay scrap price for lowest quality cable, around .80 right now. I use a manual stripper from Coppermine Tools (red doughnut), works great! I've been buying since October 2013, and average about 120 gross pounds every other week. I manage to earn around 70% return on investment, always looking for ways to up that number! We bring in old machines, couple a month, so next step to try and dissect old motors for copper. Hoping to start that soon. This has been a nice part time job that requires no travel and no boss! Even though wife says I'm just playing... she doesn't mind taking her cut of the profits though. Glad to find this forum, hoping it helps me build my scrapping business.
