Hi all,
At this point I am a completely casual hobbyist as the day job is very demanding of my time, in fact right now all I have time for is collecting stuff we would have normally tossed in the trash. Thanks to all the experienced scrappers who share their knowledge here; just the bits and pieces (some pieces are pretty big) I normally would have tossed are really starting to add up to a nice bit of extra spending money.
However right now the real payoff being here is passing on knowledge to my kids. I was both inspired and impressed with just how many folks are doing good things in their lives with the extra money they make from scrapping. I am convinced scrapping provides my teenage kids with both money and some real life skills vs. going to get jobs typical teens take on. With scrapping they are learning how to put math to practical use, do income vs. expense drills, do some basic business planning, communicate respectfully and maturely to others, and best of all they are learning that making a living does not have to mean punching the clock and settling for pay based on what someone else thinks you are worth.
