    New from AZ

    Hello all.

I am unable to work a full time job so I ended up in the Swap Meet / Flee Market business. Unfortunately in Lake Havasu City, AZ it shuts down for the summer due to the extreme heat. I can not sit there and do nothing so I decided to try scrapping. I have been surprised how easy it is on the back. I have a friend/room mate that helps me with the big things and my wife can also help as she is definitely no girly girl. I have scrapped open a few items and probably spent more time then I should salvaging moters for there copper and what forth but hey why not when I am sitting watching the tube anyhow.

I have back problems but work is not what seems to effect it. What does hurt is sitting to long or standing to long that's why doing jobs that I can sit or stand is ok. Well no one wants to hire someone who needs to do that constantly so I do what it takes to atleast bring in some money until (will still do it after) my ssi gets approved. I love doing the swap meets and think I will enjoy doing this as well.

I do have a business license and insurance already so hey I will probably be the only insured person scrapping in this town LOL. I didn't get it just for scrapping though but it works out to be a good thing.

I live in Kingman AZ. and travel to Lake Havasu City AZ once a week so I have two sources of supplies.

My plans for the business is to gather scrap through the use of driving around, handing out cards, advertising on craigslist and the local free papers. I have a nice van and trailer's for the jobs. I will sell all scrap that's not worth a lot here locally in Kingman. I will take my copper, aluminum, and other more pricey metals with me to Long Beach, CA when I go 2's a year to pick up supplies for the swap meets. This way I am making money going and returning and the price they pay is almost double what is paid locally. I have already found sources for the plastics, and most glass. I have 4 trash can serves and only use one currently so I have 3 45gal, trash cans I can fill with junk. If I need more we have a community clean up here 3 times a year I will take advantage off as its free. I don't know if my goal is achievable but I would like to make around $100 a week on average. I know it doesn't sound like much but I am a stay at home father of 2 children (I am adopting my wife's kids) and disabled. So I can only do so much without changing my position.

I have not found any problems so far with my back and scrapping. My wife is a strong lady that is more then willing to help when she is done with work. She is a teacher for the Hospitals Daycare. I don't mind her being the bread winner but I have to feel as though I am doing something to help with income and she supports me in what ever I try to do. She is the love of my life and I try to stay the love of hers.

Sorry for the long intro please feel free to tell if you think my plans will work or not. Thanks.
