Hello
So Idk where to begin. Im pretty new (6 months ) into scrapping. Basically my dad was a plumber ( he passed away 2011). So I used to live in florida and went to college for registered Nursing. I did that for 8 years. Graduated in 2003. I made a lot of money doing that. I just suffer from this chip on my shoulder I guess. I really hate taking orders from someone else??? Idk if anyone can relate here . So the past six months Ive been uncovering metal gold in my parents basement. Basically I have the basics down. Copper is good and aluminum is too. My dad was a hoarder so to speak. He has 100-200 milk crates full of copper and brass and all sorts of steel. I also just noticed he saved every big machine type thing and I have been teaching myself how to strip them down and get to the motors for the wire copper. I actually enjoy it . It reminds me of when I was doing orthopedic surgery... Except this is way more fun I can use a sawzall and east wing hammer and can make a huge mess... Plus I can work all night if i feel like it... When i was doing surgery we would cut skin at 645 am prompt EVERYDAY. So I sort of feel like I'm my own boss.. I just need some direction... I started to watch youtube videos. I guess there is silver contacts in some general wiring.
PS if I'm dead wrong on my assumptions PLEASE tell me. I want to be the biggest sponge on this site. Basically I deleted my FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, and all other social media. The only thing I kept is my KITCO widget. So I can get the daily spot metal figures.
* I have one question . If i don't need the money is it best to save up like say 100-200lbs of copper before I go? Or should I take what i work on daily? weekly? Biweekly?
Ill stop here . I know Im new and don't wanna ramble on too much....
Thanks for reading and thank you for becoming my new friends( co-workers) / advice givers -receivers .
Thanks scrap on
DayV
