My getting into scrapping was born out of my ebay store and buying larger auction lots though other sites, one in particular was an entire electronics stores inventory. The sad part of that is at the time I had a partner and we had 35 vintage consoles, radios, turntables you get the idea. They were stored at his home and well, he got cold during the winter and cut them all up with a sawzall and dropped a massive pile off stuff off on my front porch, from there it just grew, I salvaged and resold parts that I could and then realized that much of the older stuff that was unsalable did have scrap value and now between the ebay store and scrapping they are my full time jobs. (oh yeah not a partner with this person anymore) .

Partners are a really tough thing.
More often than not, it turns into trouble.
It's hard to find someone that has the same motivation as you.
