    Hello everyone!!!

I am an Industrial Electronic Tech by trade. I am pretty new to scrapping and would like to learn more. I have been servicing consumer and industrial electronics for 24 years now and have accumulated quit a pile of electronics. Most of what I have is VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives, Inverters, and AC/DC drives). I have found a lot of topics about scrapping computer boards, but hardly anything about industrial electronics. A lot of the components are large semiconductors such as Thyristors, IGBTs, Transistors and SCRs. My wife and I are in the process of breaking everything down and separating by metals first then we will work all the way down to the PCBs and components. So far we have sold one pick-up load of aluminum and one load of ferrous metal ready to be sold. We have 7 large boxes of PCBs, 1 large box of DC cooling fans, 1 box of cable connectors, 5 small boxes of isolation and step down transformers, 1 box of bolt on semiconductors and several separating bins for wire, brass, copper, stainless, large capacitors, and other misc. We have done some gold recovery and plan do some more once we get everything down to a workable level. I would like to know if anyone has broken down any large semiconductors for precious metals and how? I hope to learn a lot from this form.

    Thanks
