    Just thought I'd say hi

Hi every I thought I would just drop a message to introduce my self. I'm am light weight when it comes to scrapping I just scrap old/ off cuts of coax cable that I get from my job as a satellite engineer here in England. I've been doing it for a few years and it helps pay the bull but I'm here to get advice on maybe branching out. Look forward to hours of reading ahead.

Welcome aboard the scrapping spaceship . What has worked best for me was finding what everyone else wasn't doing and do that .
For instance , everyone and their mother is buying ewaste in my area , adds all over craigslist. So I have been focusing my time on cell phones , hvac equipment , pool heaters and anything else that crosses my path while I'm at the auctions .

I have also stopped advertising for scrap on the internet , I'm awaiting a nice magnetic sign for my tailgate . Had a friend of a friend offer their services for $40 bucks . I'm on the road a lot so it should pay for itself within the first few calls . If you have he means maybe check out some local storage auctions in your area . Believe it or not they are a excellent source for resell able items and scrap . I average about 3 cell phones per locker . Just don't get overwhelmed and overpay . Like I like to say there is always another auction tomorrow. Good luck in finding what works best for you and welcome to the forum as well . Tons of great info on here from new ideas or how to properly breakdown your finds.

Welcome to the forums from a sandbar off the coast of NC!

You say your a satellite engineer, so get to scrapping those left overs from the satellites! What kind do you work on? Like tv ones, or space ones, etc. I got a buddy who does the same but with ones launched into space. I'm still trying to get scrap off him but they reuse a lot or destroy it before they toss it.

Far as your coax take a magnet to it, if it sticks, take as is. If it doesn't strip the bugger an get the most money out of it. The copper clad is quite easy to strip by hand, easier then most in my oh so humble opinion. Good razor or knife..an boom! 2.50+ !

Other then the satellite stuff...dig into the archives an you'll get plenty of ideas, along with plenty of tips an tricks to maximize your profit.

    Good luck.

Welcome to the forum. I expect your job produces more material suitable for scraping you just need to be aware of it and have permission to scrap it. Read the old threads and you will profit from it. We have several members from England and you may be able to get more on the ins and outs of scrapping in England, different rules than here or other countries. Mike.
