New and confused member

Hi Everyone,
I'm from Wisconsin and I have several different types of car stereo installations components that have 24k gold plating, according to the packaging. These include fuses, O rings, connectors, etc. The company discontinued the plating when the price of gold made it unprofitable. Would these be the type of item that gold recovery would work on? Would it be more profitable to bring them to a refinery, or to the salvage yard where I'm told they will pay sheet iron price. I have cases and cases. Secondly, any suggestions as to where to take them. Thanks for any help.

i would reccomend looking at the items on ebay and see if they have a usable value...if they are not worth anything as working parts then maybe list them on ebay as gold plated parts for gold recovery...we have many buyers on here for many items...im sure someone would buy the items from you......but in my experience i have done better selling things like gold plated connecter pins, rca jacks, and the screw in cable connestors on ebay...

most scrap yards are not interested in the plating on items, only the base metal . i think you need thousands of pounds to come out good at a refinery....

Yes, wadarbr is right, ebay is a good place to sell these as usable or scrap.

If you don't do ebay or just want to compare prices, I suggest checking with a couple of the buyers in the Buyers and Sellers section. Some of them will definitely be interested in your plated parts.
