    Hello

    Hi all,

My Name is Jim Smith from Delaware and (obviously) I'm new to this forum. As I'm recently retired and finding myself with far too much time on my hands, I was looking at my collection of old electronic crap, er, I mean fabulous vintage technology, that I have been collecting for decades and I find myself with a basement full of stuff I will never use.
Looking on Google to make the most of its scrap/sale value I happened upon this forum, and I found it to be so helpful and informative I had to join.

So, hello to all and I hope to meet some great people here.

Jim Smith (Yes, it's my real name. I blame my Parents)

Welcome from the Dakota's. Congratulations on your retirement. We share a similar story, I waited until I retired to find this hobby, then started part time, worked into full time, and went to over time. I have so much fun, it is still a hobby and is a strong fourth to hunting, fishing, and ranching. Great forum here with some fantastic individuals. Good luck and enjoy your retirement.

Thanks to all for that warm welcome. I'm not sure I want to make a hobby or part-time job of dealing in scrap. My concern for right now is to clear out a ton of stuff from my basement. But, depending on how that works out, I can see this would perhaps be something I can use some of this new found free time on.

Metalbestos, heh. I just grabbed the first avatar that caught my eye.

    Welcome,
Keep in mind that alot of the old vintage electronics, if in working order can bring you much , much more than scrap value. If you have any items with tubes in them $$$$. Any older 70s stereo equipment like
Pioneer, Marantz, Luxman ... to name a few can bring you big dollars on E-bay or Craigslist. Even if it does not function some of the really high end stuff I sell for repair and believe me it does sell ! And for way more than scrap value.
Vintage speakers - the same scenario - even if the surrounds are shot. I urge you to look up the models of what you have to see if they are selling and if some , clean em up , test them and make some $$$$.
    Good luck,
