More of a reintroduction...

Good evening ya'll, some of you may remember me, most of you probably don't. I joined up back 2011 when I had initially got into scrap metal, eventually I narrowed it down to E-scrap (Not much space), and was looking to open a small business. Instead I got busy with school, have been doing the scrap thing while doing school, just in a more passive manner and as a result spent less time on the computer and here.

That said, now I'm back, a little more experienced in scrap and the proud new owner of a BS in Electrical Engineering with plenty of free time to pursue pretty much anything, garage is getting cleaned up this weekend, work bench is getting organized, and it's time to start breaking things down again.

Just wondering---won't you find it a little easier to pursue the EE angle as a 9-5 and scrap on the side? I did a ME 'way too many years ago to admit and it did me good until a couple of years ago.

Not meaning to be nosy--just getting any sort of engineering degree is pretty hard work....

I currently have a 9-5 related to my first degree (CAD), and am trying to get into a design position. This is just a hobby that I would like to eventually switch over to, the plus side is all the electronic bits and pieces I get now.

Well...things got good, then they got bad... now I gotta make em better again.

Since I posted this reintroduction, things at work had started going well, and kept the recycling thing as a hobby that only had a couple customers and kinda drifted away from this forum as I did get into fitness and started spending a lot of free time over thataway. Then things went bad, and by bad I mean really bad.... laid off from work kinda bad.

So I'm here again, and this time instead of simply poking my head in and leaving like last time with the occasional drive-by lurking, I'm close to purchasing the private forum access and decided it's about time to turn the hobby, into a business. The paperwork has been sent off and step one is complete, I figure I've got all the time in the world now, and not much to lose... so let's see what happens.

That's the plan... I have at least one source of material that I can use as a test run to figure everything out, then I have another possible source for dealing with large amounts of equipment. Between those two, and some time to figure out the ropes, I think I should do ok. I've always had the mentality of letting it grow organically... main reason I never advertised while I was working.
